Atlantic Coast Fishing with Eddie Brown Sportfishing

The Captains:

Eddie Brown Expert Fishing Guide in Tortuga Lodge & Gardens
Captain Eddie Brown

To fish for Tarpon or Snook on the Atlantic coast is not only an opportunity to cast the line in a world class fishing arena; it's also an opportunity to meet the legendary Eduardo Brown and his brother Roberto.

Captain Eddie Brown is three-time winner of the National Tarpon Tournament while Roberto has been Captain for the boat winning the National Fishing Tournament on three different occasions.

The brothers first started fishing when they were 15 or 16 in their home in Barra del Colorado. In those days, the fishing lodges fished 7 days a week; they remember asking to work on their days off to make extra money to take home.

Roberto Brown Expert Fishing Guide in Tortuga Lodge & Gardens
Captain Roberto Brown

Eddie's booming voice and wonderful personality and most importantly his impressive skill fishing, have made Captain Eddie one of the finest guides in Costa Rica's north Caribbean coast. Roberto is the quiet one, his specialty is fly fishing and his knack for knowing where the tarpon are is highly respected on the Caribbean Coast. After 38 years of fishing, Roberto's face still lights up with delight at the first rip through the air of a tarpon.

On most days, the Brown brothers are busy with anglers who come to Tortuguero specifically for the privilege of fishing with one of them, when they're not with guests they can often be found out at sea increasing their vast knowledge of where the “bigguns” are hiding.

no smoking

Smokers Be Aware!
Costa Rica has recently passed one of the strictest smoking regulations in the world; hotels are 100% SMOKE FREE.
If you are a guest at the hotel, and want to smoke, by law you are required to leave the property. This means that you have to be taken by boat across the river to the beach. Boats are available most of the time but not all the time, you may have to wait (10 minutes – 2 hours) for a boat to return to the lodge before you can be taken across.
Boats are NOT available to take you to a place where you can smoke at night. We realize that this is very inconvenient, but it’s the law. There is an $800 fine for breaking this law.
