Best experience during our weeks out on the fan!

What a place. Surrounded by animals and nature. We had everything from monkeys, tucans and iguanas outside our room. We booked the package on two nights where everything was included. Everything was perfect from the pickup in San Jose to the leaving in La Fortuna. We chose to fly because we had some time in Costa Rica. And I can say that it was an experience in itself. All meals tasted good and you had many choices. The staff were super nice. The guides were knowledgeable and found lots of animals that you had never even discovered. The room was cozy and clean. We would easily go back.

Incredible 3 days in Tortuguero

We had a fantastic time at Tortuga Lodge in August this year. The accommodation is rustic luxury, certainly the best we have experienced in a location like this! Food in the restaurant is great, fresh authentic local dishes and good vegetarian options too. It's all about the wildlife and the tours here though and the guides at Tortuga are so friendly and excellent at what they do. We saw more wildlife here in 3 days than the rest of our two week trip; Toucans, Aracari, Iguanas, Caiman, Sloths, Frogs, Birds, Turtles, Jesus Christ Lizards, Crocodiles - you name it, we saw it (pretty close up too!). Staff were friendly and professional, especially Angelo our guide - what a legend

Tarpon Fishing

We all were very impressed with Tortuga Lodge and Gardens, the accommodations were great, the food was excellent, service staff were amazing and the resort as a whole was truly enjoyable. Jungle sounds that we do not hear in Utah could be heard every morning. We walked out into the jungle with monkeys, birds and reptiles every where to truly experience the wild. We went out daily for Tarpon fishing with an excellent crew of fishing guides. I highly recommend the kayak tour, only took a few hours, worth every penny!

Family Affair

We had an incredible time at the lodge. We are a family of 15 with ages ranging from 2 to 64 years old and we had a blast. We kayaked, watched turtles laying their eggs and return to sea, caught Tarpon, visited the village, hiked the jungle, and did a boat tour. We enjoyed every moment. When we weren't touring we were in the pool. The staff was excellent and very accommodation to our individual needs. On our hikes and tours we saw spider and howler monkeys, caimans, sloths, iguanas, bats, snakes, toucans, tiger herons, poison dart frogs, and more of everything

A little piece of paradise

We stayed here for 2 nights with our three children and just loved it. The staff here go above and beyond to make you feel welcome and cared for. Every meal we ate here was delicious. After a very active first week of our trip, we just wanted to rest and relax and this was the ideal place. Our boys loved the pool and all the wildlife we saw around the site. The hammocks located around the site were wonderful places to lie and read. Our son had an ear infection and the reception helped us sort some ear drops for him which really helped. Overall, the perfect place to come for some serious R&R. We didn’t book a package, we just travelled there on the public boat and paid for whatever meals we had there. Prices were very reasonable and the food/drinks were just delicious. We really enjoyed receiving the Tortuga lodge recipe book from the chef by email last week which contains some of our favourite dishes. A real gem of a hotel - highly recommend to all travellers to Tortuguero.

A beautiful first step

The place is worth, an hour of boat at the end of the lagoon, a very good reception, the rooms are large, pleasant with a sheltered terrace. The meals are very well served and very good. Well organized excursions. A perfect stay!

What a location to start your vacation !!

Tortuga Lodge was our first location during our tour through Costa Rica. Via a small Cesna from San José you almost land in the front garden of Tortuga Lodge. Just the crossing of the river and then you arrive in a small nature paradise. Very well maintained, beautiful gardens, very spacious lodges, very friendly staff and good food and drinks. In short, Tortuga Lodge is really an excellent base to explore the area. You will be taken everywhere in a boat. You can scour the rivers through the rainforest or visit the colorful Tortuguero village. For us an experience to remember with a lot of 'wildlife' directly in the private gardens of the spacious park of the lodges.

Wonderful hotel. would stay again

Loved out stay at this hotel. If I ever go back to Tortuguero, I'd stay at the same place. Not huge pool but nice views over the river. I would advise though to stay on in a 1st floor room (as we had), not a downstairs one

Adventurous place

Fantastic place. Nature is everywhere and is adventurous. Monkeys, iguanas, butterflies and so on. We had 2 adults and 3 kids unforgettable for 4 nights. Modern and challenging kitchen. Very professional staff.

Wonderful lodge

The Tortuga Lodge is a very well maintained facility with excellent service. The rooms are very nice (and in the climate thankful way without glass windows, but with nets), the pool small but very inviting. The staggering are the rainforest with the trails and the garden. Under the excellent guidance of the guides we saw a lot of frogs and even a tapir (be sure to do the twilight tour). On the boat trip we were lucky again and a knowledgeable guide, we even saw an eagle. We arrived by plane, which is clearly the best alternative to hours in the car and one hour in the boat. Incidentally, the flight immediately continues to La Fortuna, which is a good alternative to a long drive at lunchtime

Memories for life!

From the moment we got off the plane and took the boat across the river to the lodge, I knew this was going to be an incredible adventure. The lodge is exceptional and the staff are amazing. In all my travels, I have never been treated like I was royal and I was at the lodge. We could have spent the entire week here. My daughter wants to get a job at the lodge she loved it so much. The food is fantastic, service exceptional and the setting is incredible. We did most of the activities that the lodge offers and loved each one of them. We saw lizards, snakes, birds, sloths, monkeys, alligators, and fish. From the boat tour to the guided night tour of the forest, everything was outstanding. All the rooms are screened in so you can listen to the sounds as you drift off to sleep. If you are going to Costa Rica, you must stay at this lodge. You will not be disappointed!
